Our Soft Shaving Soap is a traditional-style shaving soap with a warm, spicy fragrance reminiscent of traditional Bay Rum, formulated to produce a rich, creamy lather when loaded with a shaving brush. Unlike a shaving cream, this is a soft soap that is loaded directly from the container with a damp shaving brush before working the soap into a lather.
Made with shea butter, free-range ostrich oil, virgin coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil and unrefined avocado oil, the formulation provides a dense, lubricating lather to help the razor glide comfortably over the skin.
What is Soft Shaving Soap?
Shaving soap is formulated differently from an ordinary cleansing soap to produce the dense, stable lather required for wet shaving. A soft shaving soap has a softer consistency than a traditional hard shaving soap puck, making it easy to load onto a shaving brush while still being used as a soap rather than a ready-made shaving cream.
Our Soft Shaving Soap contains both potassium and sodium soaps, together with stearic acid and a blend of oils and butter selected to produce a creamy shaving lather.
How to Use Soft Shaving Soap
Wet your shaving brush with warm water and shake out the excess. Load the brush by working it directly over the surface of the shaving soap until sufficient soap has been picked up by the bristles.
Build the lather either directly on damp skin or in a shaving bowl, adding small amounts of water as required until a rich, creamy lather develops. Apply the lather with the shaving brush and shave as usual.
After use, allow the surface of the shaving soap to dry before replacing the lid.
Why Use a Shaving Brush?
A shaving brush helps load the soap, incorporate water and air into the lather, and distribute the finished lather evenly over the area to be shaved. The amount of water can be adjusted while building the lather to obtain the consistency preferred for shaving.
