Our Boerseep is a traditional South African soap made using 100% free-range beef tallow as the soap-making fat. Unscented and fragrance-free, this hard, long-lasting soap can be used for everyday hand and body washing as well as general household cleaning.
Made without added fragrance or essential oils, Boerseep is a simple and versatile traditional soap. It is available in 90g and 180g bars.
What is Boerseep?
Boerseep is an Afrikaans word that translates roughly as “farmer’s soap”. Traditional South African Boerseep was made using rendered animal fat, usually beef tallow, combined with water and lye to make a simple, practical soap for everyday use.
Our Boerseep follows this tallow-based tradition and is made using 100% free-range beef tallow with no added plant oils.
What can Boerseep be used for?
Hand and body washing: Boerseep can be used as an unscented everyday soap for washing hands and the body.
General household cleaning: The hard tallow soap bar can also be used for general cleaning tasks around the home.
Laundry and stain cleaning: Boerseep can be rubbed directly onto wet fabric before washing to help clean marks and stains. Wet the affected area, rub with the soap and then wash the item as usual.

A lovely product! The soap bar is very hard, which means it will last longer. A few rubs over a sponge in the shower and I get enough foam to wash the entire body. I have also noticed that it rinses off the body and out of the sponge much easier than commercial body soaps.

I had clothing with a stain which I couldn’t get out. So when all else failed, I wet it, then soaped it well with Boerseep, and let it hang overnight. The next afternoon, I washed it as usual. The clothing piece is coffee stain-free. It really works, thank you.
